Sadly, we only made it to Monteverde for one day – but we enjoyed it while it lasted.
WHERE WE STAYED
The Trapp Family Lodge is the closet hotel to the national park. But fun fact, the hanging bridges are not in the national park. The views from our hotel room were stunning. It reminded me a bit of the south eastern US with green mountains that go on for days.
This was also the best place for star gazing. Light pollution was nil so it was easy to see thousands of stars endlessly adorning the night sky. We sat in the courtyard and stared at the sky for what seemed like hours. You just can’t get those views at home.
The perfect photo op. This is a place where you need to stop – look around – and acknowledge how small you really are in this great big world. The forest was so dense and quiet that there was almost a faint breath to this place. I’d even venture to say it was kind of spiritual. I’m glad I was able to experience it with two of my favorite people.
WHERE TO EAT
Restaurante Tree House is where it’s at. There is an actual living giant tree growing in the middle of this place. We had to go there. And you should too.
PS – we love tree houses.
